What Better Than Following The Jewel Box Cluster, A Marriage Proposal

From A Star Cluster To A Diamond Cluster: Ben Wows Chelsea Under A Star-Filled Sky

A reenactment only moments later, Ben gets on his knee and proposes to Chelsea in style as she descends the ladder after viewing – very appropriately, the Jewel Box Cluster located in the Southern Cross. Planned in advance by Ben with us, he nervously awaited his opportunity and the objects viewed to lead to the Jewel Box Open Star Cluster, his cue for the big event. When the moment arrived, privacy was provided and the proposal ceremony proceeded under a still, starry sky above. Perfect. A few pesky clouds that had hindered our tour start (and elevated Ben’s anxiety level!) had all gone away and a superb astronomy tour night continued thereafter. 🙂 All was well in the world.

The proposal was needless to say the highlight of the evening for Ben and Chelsea, however in relation to the tour itself, Chelsea was also bowled over by magnificent Omega Centauri – a globular cluster to beat all globular clusters, while Ben was starstruck by the beautiful Sombrero Galaxy – a glowing distant “universe” itself, visible before your eyes in the eyepiece. Many wonderful objects were viewed. However … with the passage of time, we suspect the most memorable object in the sky for Ben and Chelsea will remain the Jewel Box Cluster; a young, bright and colourful open star cluster promising a lifetime of happiness.

The Perfect Proposal

My now fiancé and I had an absolutely amazing experience with Bruce, down in his cute little beachside home. We were initially greeted by Bruce and his friendly dog Roughy, and from the get go, Bruce’s positive and enthusiastic attitude created a warm environment that carried on late into the night.
We settled in and had some dinner and drinks while Bruce worked away outside to set up his epic telescope.
He battled the initial cloud cover, but despite this he was able to show us some spectacular star clusters.
An hour or so later the clouds completely cleared up and showed us what the night sky truly had to offer.
This then initiated the well thought out plan between myself and Bruce to make the night extra special for my soon to be fiancé. Bruce had lined up a view of the Jewel Box Cluster, and once Chelsea stepped down from the telescope I was waiting there to give her a jewel of her own.
Bruce had made this the most unforgettable night for us. He is a wealth of knowledge and his passion for astronomy really shone through the entire evening. We are so grateful for the wonderful experience.
And lastly, we could not forget to give a special mention to Bruce’s signature omelette the following morning, filled with fresh herbs from his veggie garden. Perfect way to cap off a perfect night.”     Ben    Google
