Cruising Amongst Solar System Giants

 

As we approach the month of August, the views of the Solar System’s dominating duo just gets better and better. When couples Troy and Tarsha and Jacob and Olivia drove out from Sale for their astronomy tour, a wish to see the rings of Saturn and Jupiter’s spectacular bands crossing its surface would have been high on their list. They were not disappointed. Although not high in the sky at the time of observation Jupiter’s bands were sharp and revealing;  a giant planet always ready to wow the observer. Intermittent cloud punctuated a mild evening, however the objects that were able to be viewed were fascinating and very different. For all four it was a first time to be looking through a large telescope.
