Mark And Lorraine Share Delights Of A Magic Southern Sky

Mark owns his own telescope but has been taking his time getting familiar with how to set things up. Following his night under the stars with us, he might now be ready to take the next step. Most of the objects we observed will also likely be viewable through his own ‘scope and given he has a list of the object he viewed with us, there is a ready-made target list for him to search – and a first class list at that!

As we head into autumn, new objects get added to our list and a similar number drop off the list. Such is the progressive yearly change brought about by Earth’s position in its orbit around the Sun. It’s an exciting time, with fabulous galaxies and other stellar marvels coming into view. Our tour with Mark and Lorraine provided an early look into some of these autumn beauties.

One of the marvellous views enjoyed on their tour was to be found in the Large Magellanic Cloud. We take a wide-angle view at first and then focus in on the massive Tarantula Nebula. Seeing (viewing) conditions were excellent for our tour … The atmosphere must have been reasonably steady at high altitude. The result was superb detail being enjoyed in the fine structure of  certain objects. Very satisfying.

It was a terrific night for Mark and Lorraine. And their morning beach walk next day, was also followed by our popular ham and cheese omelettes! The highlights are never ending at Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours!!! 🙂
