Another Astronomy Tour Birthday Gift A Winner For Enthusiast Dan
May 14, 2023
Lisa’s Surprise Had Him Guessing All The Way To Our Door
It was a closely guarded secret and combined with a winery lunch en route, Dan’s big birthday gift remained a total surprise until the very last moment – their arrival at Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours HQ by the beach!
Dan has had an interest in the stars for some time and has looked through a sizeable telescope in years gone by. Our tour was to be a special event taking his observing to a new level. Lisa, like many generous providers of the gift, was also in for a special night.
Given the lunch diversion in the afternoon, Dan and Lisa’s arrival was not until early evening. Good planning on Lisa’s part was to anticipate this late arrival and so the usual guest bbq option was not the go. Instead, with a contribution of roast veggies from us, Lisa brought along a home-made chicken pie to be heated in our oven.
How the evening unfolded could not have been better. The tour commenced at around 6.30 p.m. and upon its completion – having turned the oven on at 9.00 p.m., we all sat down to a scrumptious pie and roast veggies around 10.00. Dare I say the pie almost stole the limelight from the astro tour, it was so good! 🙂 The objects viewed were spectacular and varied and the evening was in ideal observing conditions – still and cloudless. Galaxies, globular clusters and the Milky Way’s glory were all on show. It was however a bracing late autumn night and the hot dinner out of the oven in the warm cottage with a glass of wine was a perfect ending to a fabulous evening. All astronomy tour experiences should be this good 🙂
