Originally from Germany, but in more recent years residing in Malaysia and Australia, Hildegard has always wanted to look through a powerful telescope and see the wonders of the heavens. And daughter Anusha made it happen. On a special birthday a surprise overnight stay booking was made, such that Hildegard when arriving at Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours, still had no idea it was “space” she was coming to see. It was only being shown a photo on the wall of our large telescope, did the penny drop.

The night was superb for observing: clear, with still atmospheric conditions. And a host of objects were observed giving our guests the best views in town! Omega Centauri, the most spectacular Globular Cluster visible from anywhere on Planet Earth, was the unanimous favourite object on the night. But there were many contenders.
