A Tour Gift For Sophie Also Enjoyed With Friends Jess, Hugh And Lucy

The early part of our tour evening began with some pesky thin high cloud, but with a little persistence we got though that and enjoyed clear conditions to the end of our tour. The two couples – friends originally from Adelaide now living in inner Melbourne, had a wonderful time not only having a great catch up and seeing some show stopping sights overhead (including many meteors on the night!), but long walks on the beach which was tranquil and deserted.

New to telescope viewing, everything they saw came as a surprise. (This is usually the case with all tour observers) Beyond looking at the Moon in a small telescope some time in their life, most guests have little knowledge of what may lay ahead on a night’s observing timetable and are completely caught off-guard. Shapes, sizes, distances of objects are a constant source of amazement. Even we – after seeing these objects countless times, are always thrilled to see them again when showing them to guests. One can’t get over just how incredible are the different sights … and the “story each can tell”.
