Sombrero Galaxy Makes An Early Appearance For Kane And Robyn

Autumn Beauties Starting To Shine For Astro Tour Guests

The Sombrero Galaxy and Centaurus A are two of our favourite galaxies to show tour guests from March to June. They are very different and have interesting visible structure; two of the “autumn collection” of fabulous visible objects with Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours at this time of year.

Robyn’s Christmas gift to Kane was an astronomy tour with us. Kane – an astronomy fan with his own telescope, was very keen to spend an evening under our dark skies looking at a wide range of deep space (and not so deep space) objects through our ‘scope. Jupiter and Mars once again started the show followed by the wide variety of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies on show. Being February, Sombrero was still low in the sky when observed, but it still wowed them both. It’s bright central core and dark dust lane around the perimeter of the star system – 35 million light years distant, are features of this object and always bring a delighted reaction from guests. The Sombrero galaxy was one of many superb sights Kane was able to enjoy with Robyn equally engrossed by the sights.
