A Special Birthday Deserves A Special Event

Newcomers to Australia from the U.K., Jerry and Pat celebrated the milestone occasion with a two night stay at Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours and a spectacular night under the stars. A man who’s specialty is nuclear physics, a view of the universe and large galaxies presents a very different aspect altogether to that of the workings of individual atoms.

And so it was, the pair who had barely looked through a telescope in their lifetimes were looking for the first time through an observatory grade instrument at individual stars, massive star clusters and giant nebulae where stars are born. The evening was clear and still and the tour which lasted approximately three hours gave them the opportunity to explore what makes the Southern Night Skies so celebrated.

Coming from the northern hemisphere our tour event provided a doubly fascinating experience. Just seeing the night sky without a telescope is special enough (… and all from the northern hemisphere comment how wonderful our starry sky is when they see it free of streetlights and away from city environs). But to then get up close and personal via the telescope takes it to a whole new level. Jerry and Pat loved the experience, amazed at the diversity of objects that can be seen if you have the right equipment.
