Large Nearby Spiral Galaxy And Saturn Steal The Show
August 12, 2024Diversity Is What Awaits You On Your Night Under The Stars
… It was Pranav’s birthday gift from Kirtana, but all four friends equally loved their special night viewing the cosmos! A breathtaking edge-on spiral galaxy – close-by at a mere 10 million light years distance(!), was a favourite for all, alongside ringed planet Saturn, which is now approaching an excellent time for viewing. Also popular was the Tarantula Nebula, a massive star forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud whose size is almost beyond belief.
For new observers who had scarcely looked through a telescope before, what is revealed through the Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours telescope was little short of a revelation to the group. The range and complexity of objects reveals detail few had anticipated. We love the delight and amazement guests convey when looking through the eyepiece at something truly remarkable. The experience gives one a great sense of perspective and a clearer understanding that the “world” is much, much greater than the common parochial view, within which we humans love to bask!
